OOCTANE is the first and fully indigenous Cambodian equity investment firm, set up by Cambodians for Cambodia. Primarily established as a VC (venture capital) firm, today, it also provides consulting and business advisory services to its parent WorldBridge Group for its various M&A deals (Mergers & Acquisitions). OOCTANE closed its debut US$55 million Cambodia Investment Fund in late 2018 with a mandate to invest in startups founded in Cambodia or that want to enter the Mekong region, with a preference in technology startups in mobility, e-commerce, fintech (mainly payments), and real estate (proptech) verticals. The fund is chaired by Oknha SEAR Rithy, Chairman of the WorldBridge Group.
OOCTANE differentiates itself from typical VC firms by “functioning as a startup itself” – it plays a very hands-on role in its portfolio companies by providing them industry-leading mentorship and strategic network and market access; and adopts a flexible investment strategy (early to later-stage startups, variable ticket size, and variable exit targets).
OOCTANE closed its first VC investment in 2019 in a growth-stage Cambodian food delivery service provider Muuve.
